Democracy is "rule of the people by the people for the people ", that what i took in college, i still remember that statement well, because i liked it alot, and said fine that means it's the Peoples' decision, but unfortunately that wasn't true that much.
But what about if people don't know how to rule, don't understand the basic concepts of Democracy: at least to respect the opposite opinions.
I don't know why there are alot of contradictions?!!
Instructors taught us concepts and beliefs and asked us to believe in them cuz they are really true, and the contradiction is that they knew very well that nothing was applied as they said.
Democracy for me; is a simple word, it's simply expressing myself in any place, in home, in work, in real life without being afraid to say my opinion very frankly about a certain issue.
I mean not only most of political leaders were dictators, but also some families were also so; they taught their children how to be afraid, how to be silent all the time, how to kill their dreams and underestimate their talents, how to study by heart to the extent that they can't even think about what they are studying and be creative.
Sometimes, families can ruin the lives of their children without even knowing this and by believing that they are always doing everything for their own sake.
Don't blame others always for not hearing your opinion; maybe your voice wasn't loud enough for them to hear, maybe you weren't able to convince them by showing them the real truth by evidence and by analysed justifications.
Finally, i believe that "Democracy" is a concept that has to be taught, learnt and above all practically applied; it's a way of life, it's a way to justice, welfare and fair standard of living.
And as covey said in his book "The 7 Habits of highly effective people"; "seek to understand to be understood". We have to listen to each other even if we have different point of views maybe that can lead us to a better solution, to a better way of understanding and dealing with all of our life issues.
